Veteran midfielder Heath Scotland has won his first club best and fairest, picking up Carlton's John Nicholls Medal on Tuesday night.

Scotland claimed the award with 362 votes, overtaking livewire Eddie Betts (353 votes) in the final match of the season.

Skipper Chris Judd (334) finished third despite missing five games, followed by Brock McLean (321), who was absent for eight of the opening nine rounds.

Marc Murphy, who missed six matches with a shoulder injury, was fifth with 299 votes.

Scotland polled 17 votes in the Round 23 match against St Kilda, pipping Betts, who was awarded just three.

Under the voting system, five members of the Carlton match committee independently submit their votes after each round.

Scotland, who will play under former coach Mick Malthouse next season, has played 191 games for the Blues since joining from Collingwood at the end of 2003.

gladly take two losses to the bluegirls for 2013 to see them lose again to the suns so I cant stand up from laughing so hard and then see them make up the numbers......in the bottom eight ......again and again and again lol
