Fremantle young gun Michael Walters has been handed a two-year contract extension at the Dockers after his excellent finish to the season.
The 21-year-old was banished to the WAFL in pre-season for his lack of conditioning but produced some of his best form as the season wore on, impressing in the Dockers' two finals against Geelong and Adelaide with five goals, and 15 touches in each.
The speedy forward was also selected for finals against Hawthorn and Geelong in 2010 and played a role in both with four goals combined.
Having signed on until the end of 2014, Fremantle general manager Brad Lloyd said Walters had turned his fortunes around through hard work and deserved another contract.
"Michael's become an important player for the team and we look forward to a successful contribution from him again in 2013," Lloyd said.
Walters has played 21 games for the Dockers after he was taken at pick 53 in the 2008 national draft.
