Geelong triple premiership player David Wojcinski has announced he will retire after Sunday's VFL grand final.
Wojcinski, whose announcement coincided with his 32nd birthday on Tuesday, has played 203 AFL games for the Cats since debuting in 1999.
However the veteran defender has featured just four times at senior level this season in a campaign interrupted by injuries and suspensions.
Wojcinski will make his final appearance for Geelong in the VFL decider against Port Melbourne at Etihad Stadium.
"I've thoroughly enjoyed my time here," Wojcinski said.
"I've been lucky enough to play with great players at the club. I will miss playing with such a great team and the camaraderie and conversation with the boys. It's been so much fun playing here.
"But the body has struggled a bit this year and I think it is the right time to go out."
Wojcinski, who overcame a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in 2005, is one of only 12 players to have played in the Cats' three most recent grand final wins, nominating the 2011 success as his favourite.
"If there was one it would probably be last year when everyone wrote us off," he said.
"But they were all special. In '07 it was amazing. The biggest thing I got out of that was what it meant to the fans. To see how they celebrated is something I will never forget.
"In '09 it was such a hard fought game against St Kilda. We were strong enough to come out and win that game against a great side."
Wojcinski was drafted from Gippsland Power with the 24th pick in the 1998 national draft before making his debut against Port Adelaide in Round 4 the following year.
