Greater Western Sydney youngster Dom Tyson has been nominated for the AFL Rising Star award following his performance against North Melbourne in Round 23.

The 19-year-old gathered 26 disposals and took five marks during the Giants' 28-point loss to North on the weekend in an impressive display.

Tyson debuted for the Giants in Round 1, but his effort against the Kangaroos was ultimately his best performance of his 10-game career to date.

Tyson is the eighth player from the Giants to be nominated in 2012, with team-mate Jeremy Cameron among the favourites to claim the award when it is announced on Wednesday.
