Collingwood midfielder Dayne Beams has signed a three-year contract with the Magpies, committing to the club until the end of 2015.
The 22-year-old has stepped up for Collingwood this year with experienced midfielders Luke Ball and Ben Johnson out injured for most of 2012.
Beams has averaged over 30 disposals per game this year up from 22.8 in 2011, and Collingwood football director Geoff Walsh said Beams - who was left out of the Magpies' grand final line-up last year - is beginning to fulfil his potential.
"Dayne is rapidly becoming the player many suspected he could be," Walsh said.
"He is clearly showing the benefits of dedicating himself to the game, and to Collingwood, and I think his new contract reflects not only this progress but where he and we believe he can take his career."Beams' decision to re-sign with the Magpies puts extra pressure on Collingwood's salary cap with power forward Travis Cloke refusing to agree to stay at the club.
