Western Bulldogs livewire Luke Dahlhaus will miss the remainder of the season with an ankle injury.
The 19-year-old twisted his ankle at training last week and missed the Dogs' 54-point loss to North Melbourne on the weekend.
Scans on Dahlhaus' troublesome ankle revealed a ligament tear and the Dogs won't risk the youngster in the remaining four rounds.
"Luke sustained an injury to his left ankle at training and was sent for precautionary x-rays which were clear," Bulldogs medical services manager Andrew McKenzie said
"The following day, further swelling appeared and the decision was made for Luke to have an MRI.
"The MRI revealed a tear in Luke's ankle which requires a 4-6 week rehabilitation period."
Melbourne utility Cale Morton has also been ruled out for the rest of the year.
Morton hurt his shoulder against Gold Coast on Sunday and will undergo surgery in a bid to be fit for the start of the 2013 pre-season.
"Cale has been managing a shoulder injury over the past few months," Melbourne football manager Josh Mahoney said.
"Unfortunately, Cale had another episode on the weekend, which has caused further damage."Cale will have surgery this week to repair his shoulder and the expectation will be that he is available for the start of pre-season."
