Geelong’s recruiting and list manager Stephen Wells selected three players in the rookie draft, with Josh walker, George Burbury and Jon Simpkin officially coming on board.
"Josh [Walker] is from Geelong but that didn't really come into it. He's earned his chance based purely on his football,” Wells said.
“We watched George [Burbury] play during the year and he was very impressive at the AFL Tasmania testing day. We think he's a good rookie option because he hasn't played a lot of footy but he's got heaps of natural talent.
"We think Jon Simpkin could cope with the rigours of AFL footy straight away. We haven't just drafted him as back-up, we think he can develop into a good AFL player."
