Grimes is one of Melbourne's' most promising youngsters as stress fractures in his back kept him on the sidelines for the first half of 2008. He returned to play for Sandringham in the VFL and on the back of some solid performances, he was rewarded with an AFL debut in Round 22 against the Tigers. Grimes is a utility who captained Vic Metro at the 2007 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships.
