Jones played 21 games last season but was unable to back up his brilliant 2007 season where he finished runner-up in Melbourne's B&F. Although he averaged a career high 21 disposals per game, he didn't have the same impact and slipped to 18th in last year's count. A tenacious midfielder, he attracted the attention of the AFL's best taggers and found it hard to handle as he was kept to just four disposals against the Dockers in Round 7. Jones was ranked No.1 at the club in clearances and second in handballs last season.
