Johnson played just the one game for West Coast in 2003 and came to the Demons via a trade at the end of the 2004. Injuries prevented him from playing much football early on but he managed to played 16 games last season to match his 2007 tally. He came to the club as a key forward but has also shown he is capable of playing in the ruck and this saw him average career-highs in both disposals and marks last season as a backup ruckman. With the retirement of Jeff White, Johnson will be a permanent fixture in the ruck this season.
