Kennedy has found it tough to break into Hawthorn's midfield in his first two years at the club. A son of John jnr and grandson of John snr, he was taken as a father-son selection in the 2006 NAB AFL Draft and has played just the three games to date. He can play in a variety of positions but is best suited to a midfield role. With the retirement of Shane Crawford, he will be one of the many Hawthorn youngsters that will be pushing their claims during the 2009 pre-season competition.
