Blair was the joint winner of the 2008 Morrish medal after a superb season with Gippsland in the TAC Cup. Despite standing at just 172cm, he finished with the eighth-most disposals and the second-most contested possessions of any player in the competition. He averaged 15 contested possessions in his final 14 games of the season, proving there are no concerns over his ability to go in and win his own ball.
