Clarke burst onto the scene in 2007 showing the composure of a 200-game veteran despite not being introduced to Australian Rules football until 2006. He played 22 of a possible 24 games last season and averaged slightly more disposals, uncontested possessions, tackles and rebound 50s than his debut season. He was a star back home in Ireland where he was a gun Gaelic footballer for his school and league teams.
