Swan continues to be a massive ball winner despite being the most benched player in the competition in 2008. He averaged 25 disposals, eight contested possessions and four clearances per game and ranked No.1 at Collingwood in disposals, kicks, hardball-gets and uncontested possessions. He won the sixth most disposals per minute in the competition and recorded the equal second-most kicks of any player. His ball use let him down again however as he finished with the equal third-most clanger kicks in the AFL last season and his inside 50 retention rate was the lowest of the AFL's top-20 inside 50 players.
