Armfield is a quick and tough defender, recruited to the Blues from Swan Districts in the WAFL. He managed nine games last season and was used as a run-with player on the likes of Cyril Rioli, Andrew McLeod and Brent Harvey. He won 23 disposals on debut against the Cats, but won double-figure disposals in just four of his next eight games. His kicking needs to improve also as he hit the target with just 56% of his kicks last season - the second lowest percentage at the club.
