King was a national 400m runner in his junior days and he uses this on the football field providing plenty of run-and-carry. As a midfielder he averaged 19 disposals, eight handball-receives, six inside 50s and two goals per game at the 2007 NAB AFL Under-16 Championships. In 2008, King spent the season playing WAFL colts for East Fremantle where he averaged 21 disposals per game. King is the youngest player on Brisbane's list.
