Hooper ran into discipline issues again last pre-season and as a result was fined $40,000 by the club. He has the potential to be the small dangerous forward the Lions are desperate for going forward. He laid the fifth-most tackles of any Brisbane Lions player across the season, laying 30 of those inside the forward 50 - ranked No.1 at Brisbane and equal second in the competition. He was not a big ball winner, averaging just 10 disposals per game and never winning more than 15 disposals in any match. Whenever he did get the ball around the forward 50 arc he was dangerous with one of the best inside 50 retention rates in the competition.
