After an injury interrupted 2007, Embley bounced back last season playing in all but one game. After starting the season on a wing, he was used in a different role for the remainder of the year playing across half-back, racking up some big numbers along the way. The 2006 Norm Smith Medallist was back to his best averaging career highs in disposals, marks and rebound 50s. Embley finished fourth in the club's B&F award last season and he will be a key player this season as the Eagles look to improve on its disappointing 2008 season.
