Naitanui enters the AFL with much hype and anticipation after demonstrating some freakish ability as a junior. Selected with pick No.2 in the 2008 NAB AFL Draft, Naitanui is a developing ruckman who is still learning the game and as a result, is seen as more of a long-term prospect. He may end up in a key position once he develops his game, as his marking is one of his greatest strengths, however for a big man he is more than capable at ground level. Naitanui represented WA at the 2008 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships and averaged 13 disposals, 18 hitouts and four clearances per game. He has had an injury interrupted pre-season and will be given plenty of time to fully recover.
