Selected at pick No.52 in the 2008 NAB AFL Draft, Jones is a medium-sized tall defender with strong hands and great agility. He represented Vic Country at the 2008 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships and was a consistent performer throughout the carnival. He also played 14 games for Geelong in the TAC Cup averaging 14 disposals, four marks and two rebound 50s per game. Jones will be given plenty of time to develop his game before he is considered for senior selection.
