Akermanis bounced back last season after a disappointing first season with the Bulldogs in 2007. He averaged more disposals, marks, contested possessions and goals than the previous year and finished second in the clubs goalkicking - one behind Brad Johnson. The 2001 Brownlow medalist played every game for the first time since 2004 and averaged two goals per game for the first time since 2002.
