After an outstanding 2007, Burgoyne failed to have the same impact last season but he was still able to equal his average 25 disposals per game. Playing in a sweeping role across half-back, his run-and-carry and ability to take on opponents remain one of his greatest strengths. He was dropped from the team late in the year but was still able to rank third at the club in both disposals and kicks. Burgoyne has played 225 games and is only one of three foundation members remaining on Port Adelaide's list.
