Cassisi is one of the competition's most underrated midfielders and has been rewarded for his consistency with the captaincy for 2009. He is one of few stoppers that is able to shut down his opponent yet still find plenty of the ball. Cassisi averaged 22 disposals and five clearances per game last season and also ranked second in the AFL for tackles. He was Port Adelaide's leading clearance player and also won the most contested possessions of any other player at the club making him a vital member of the team.
