McLean is one of the competition's highly rated young midfielders but is yet to play a full season in the AFL in his four years since being drafted. An aggressive player who loves getting under the packs and winning the disputed ball, McLean missed seven matches early last season after injuring himself in Round 1. Upon his return, he was unable to produce his best footy as he was the target of the opposition's best tagger. Dominant at the stoppages and a dangerous goalkicker when on song, McLean's experiences in 2007 should hold him in good stead for the future.
