In four seasons at Melbourne Davey has been an exciting goal sneak, booting 119 goals in 82 games. Playing as a traditional half-forward in his first three seasons, Davey gradually moved into the midfield in 2007, however failed to have the same impact as expected. He won less of the ball than in 2006 while his scoreboard impact also went down. His work off the ball remained outstanding however, averaging career-high tackles and regularly running down the opposition from behind, a trademark of his game.
