Bateman has played 42 games in the past two seasons for the Hawks, playing mainly through the midfield. After beginning his career in defence, Bateman has been pushed up the field more of late, significantly increasing the amount of possession he wins in the past three seasons. Bateman is an outside player suited to the wing role where his running ability can be used to full effect.
