Taylor was the oldest first-round draft pick since 1995 when taken with selection No.17 in the 2007 NAB AFL Draft at age 21. A 193cm utility, Taylor has spent the past three seasons playing senior football for East Fremantle in the WAFL in a variety of positions. He booted 24 goals in 20 games in 2007 and was a prolific ball winner at times.
