Ablett has taken a year away from the game despite a breakout year in 2007. He booted 34 goals in 21 games in a Premiership team last year, playing as the second permanent tall forward next to Cameron Mooney. He somewhat reluctantly joined Geelong at the beginning of the 2005 season.
