Lovett became more of a midfielder in 2007 after spending his first two seasons playing mainly off a half forward flank. He is one of the Bombers most important ball carriers through the midfield as he led the side in running bounces despite missing six games last season. He won the ANZAC Medal for best on ground after only his third career game in 2005.
