Laycock struggled for a regular spot in the Bomber's side between 2004-06, but played a career-high of 19 games in 2007. He failed to increase his numbers from previous seasons however, averaging just nine disposals and nine hitouts per game. He is a handy tap ruckman who launched 25 Essendon goals last season - the most at the club. He also ranked equal fourth in clearances and had the best game of his career in Round 20 when he picked up 20 disposals, 17 hitouts and six clearances.
