Before the start of the 2007 season, Cox gained promotion onto the Collingwood senior list after spending 2006 on their rookie list. He played eight games making his debut in Round 3 against Richmond. He won 10 or more disposals on three occasions finishing with a season-high of 20 on Anzac Day against Essendon. He played mainly off the half-back line conceding a total of 10 goals to his direct opponents throughout the season.
