Hampson played the final two games of the 2007 season after stints in both the VFL seniors and reserves throughout the season. As a 19 year old ruckman his development will take some time, but the fact he managed two games in his first season on the list shows he is heading in the right direction. Hampson was a promising junior soccer player and had only been playing AFL football for two years before Carlton selected him with their second pick (17th overall) at the 2006 NAB AFL Draft.
