Hill is an athletic player who represented Oakleigh in the TAC Cup competition and Vic Metro at the 2007 NAB AFL Championships. He excelled in various areas at the 2007 NAB Draft Camp ranking second in the agility test (behind fellow Carlton recruit Aaron Joseph), fourth in the 30m sprints and second in the vertical jump. Despite his athleticism, Hill was quite a handy inside player at TAC Cup level.
