Joseph represented Tasmania at the 2007 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships and finished with 87 disposals in his three games - the most of any division two player at that carnival. Joseph proved his athleticism at the 2007 NAB AFL Draft Camp where he ranked No.1 in the agility test and fifth in the 20m sprint. He was taken with the second overall pick in last year's rookie draft.
