Austin is a young key position type or may be best suited in a defensive role. He played his only game in Round 22 last season when he was promoted to the senior side after being dropped to the VFL reserves just two weeks before. He conceded three goals in that match and struggled to have any real impact finishing with just four disposals. Austin grew up playing his junior football alongside fellow Carlton youngster, Bryce Gibbs.
