Gibbs was the only 2006 draftee to play in all 22 games last season and his disposal efficiency (87%) was also the best of that group. He averaged 13 disposals per game, won the ninth-most disposals at Carlton, as well as the equal seventh-most marks and laying the sixth-most tackles. While Denis Pagan used Gibbs as a tagger across the half-back line, Brett Ratten released him into the midfield at the end of the season which included the Round 22 match where he finished with a career-high 23 disposals.
