Blackwell played 11 games last season averaging 16 disposals per game playing an average of 65 minutes game time. He won a disposal every four minutes and 10 seconds last season ranking second at the Blues. His kicking struggled in 2006 and despite an improvement last season his efficiency of 72% was still below average for an AFL midfielder. He also struggled in front of goal scoring just one goal from six scoring shots.
