Walker made a permanent move into the midfield last season and performed well finishing the season with a career-high average of 21 disposals. His debut game will live long in the memory of many Carlton fans as he collected 26 disposals and nine marks in a victory over the Eagles. Not surprisingly, he was rewarded with a NAB Rising star nomination for his performance in that game. He was used as a tagger in the early stages of his career but there were signs late in the season that he was ready to be unleashed into the midfield.
