Carlton's midfield was the most improved of the competition last season, but as a result Bentick found it harder to get a game. He started the season in the VFL eventually playing 14 AFL games for the season. His defensive pressure was outstanding averaging six tackles per game - ranked No.1 at Carlton for the third season in succession. He averaged the same amount of disposals as his previous season, but his kicking let him down hitting the target with just 55% of his kicks - clearly a career low.
