Smith's 2007 season was ruined by various injuries including a bout of osteitis pubis, a strained calf, a broken hand and a torn cartilage in his knee. He represented the Calder Cannons in the TAC Cup playing 16 games in 2006 and only six last season. Smith is a close checking defender who will be given plenty of time to develop his game.
