Proud made his debut in Round 12 last season and played a total of just two games for the season. He was a solid performer for Queensland at the 2006 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships averaging 17 disposals, four tackles and four inside 50s in his three appearances. He played 18 games for the Suncoast Lions in the AFLQ averaging 22 disposals a game. He starred on two separate occasions winning 39 disposals in one game and booting six goals in another.
