Ebert could prove a steal for the Eagles as he was taken with pick 13 at the 2007 NAB AFL Draft despite being touted as a top-10 selection prior to draft day. He was a prolific ball-winning midfielder throughout his junior career as he averaged 31 disposals playing for SA at the 2006 NAB AFL Under 16 Championships. He followed this up by averaging 22 disposals at the 2007 NAB AFL Under 18 Championships. With the Eagles' midfield losing some big names before the start of 2008 season, Ebert could find himself in the senior side at some stage in 2008.
