Brown played five games in his debut season and provided the Eagles a good target at centre half forward in those appearances. On debut in Round 1 against the Swans, he finished with 14 disposals and seven marks eventually averaging 10 disposals and five marks per game for the season. Mitchell is the twin brother of Collingwood's Nathan.
