Ward was the Bulldogs' second pick in the 2007 NAB AFL Draft and is a utility who can play all over the ground. His main strength is his kicking both over long and short distances, while he is also strong in the air for a player of his height and reads the play well in defence. He played in the 2007 TAC Cup for the Western Jets.
