Cross is one of the competition's elite inside midfielders and is gradually becoming a clone of his teammate and club legend Scott West. Like West, Cross can win the contested ball as well as finding it in space, he loves to handball and his impact on the scoreboard is minimal. An elite ball winner for the past three seasons now, Cross is one of the AFL's best at the stoppages and also applies plenty of pressure when not in possession.
