At his best, Murphy can be a dangerous medium-sized leading forward or a creative half-back who sets up play for his side. A knee reconstruction midway through 2006 kept him out for a year but he made a successful return in 2007, slotting straight back into a forward pocket and scoring 19 goals. As is expected with players returning from a knee injury, Murphy's form improved as he played more and should continue that in 2008.
