Steven was a Vic Country representative in the 2007 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships and also won the Geelong Falcons' B&F. He averaged 21 disposals and four inside 50s playing in the midfield and across half-forward. Steven was handy around goals with 17 goals and 20 score assists, but struggled to convert his opportunities, booting 20 behinds.
