Despite standing at just 188cm, Gwilt was used as a key defender in his eight games last season playing on the likes of Brendan Fevola, Barry Hall and Chris Tarrant. He showed he could win plenty of the ball however, averaging 14 disposals, 12 uncontested possessions and three rebound 50s. In three seasons at the club he has played just 13 AFL games.
