After an outstanding 2006, Simmonds' 2007 was ruined by two unrelated debilitating injuries. He played just 10 games at an average of 70 minutes game time, which saw a huge decline in all his numbers. When fit in 2006 he proved to be a mobile ruckman who averaged 18 hitouts, 16 disposals and kicked 25 goals - ranked second of all AFL ruckmen in that season. Those elite numbers for a ruckman were rewarded with a third placing in the club's B&F.
