Johnson, the Richmond captain, enters his 13th AFL season after spending 1996-2002 at Adelaide where he won two Premierships. His future looks to be as a tagger. In 2007 he was assigned the jobs on the opposition's No.1 midfielder each week, which resulted in career-high tackles. Despite the tagging duties, Johnson still averaged 20 disposals per game - the fifth time in the last six seasons he has done so. He remains only one of nine players still to be listed from the 1995 NAB AFL Draft.
